Friday Faves 24 - Pets

Pets. From a tiny ball of fluff, feathers or scales to the titan of dogs, the Great Dane, pets are part of what makes us human. They bring us joy. They lower our blood pressure. They get us outside of ourselves, and when their all too short lifespans come to a close they bring us tears of sorrow, loss and remembrance.

If we let them, they can even bring out the best in us.

My belief is that God gave us dominion over the animals to help us to understand that we are not the only beings with a soul, for who could ever truly look into the eyes of a beloved pet and not see the light of a great and noble spirit shining back?

So, in honor of all great and noble spirits everywhere, this week's Friday Faves is all about creature comforts and amenities.

But before we get started, let's listen to a little number from those Boys from the Pet Shop (yes, I'm going there) with their cover of the song Always On My Mind:

Here we have a lovely hand stamped tag to keep your pet stylin' while making sure that should they wander (as we all know they like to do sometimes) that they can be brought home again safe and sound.

Pet Shop Number 4

I really love this elegant cat tower. It certainly won't overpower your decor either. Can't you just see your fluffy love muffin reclining in oh-so-purrfect repose on this lovely piece of cat furniture? I can! It's a beauty!

Pet Shop Number 5
Shop name: Mulberry Lane Folk Art

Now, I don't have anything against anyone who has a bird for a pet. I've had a few of them myself in the past, and I certainly enjoyed helping a friend of mine with her over 250 birds that she hand-raises. But, like my father before me, I have come to love to see them in more natural settings, so when I saw this gorgeous little birdhouse I just had to pass it on to all of you. Isn't it adorable? I even make birdhouses myself, but these have some real personality! I just love them!

Got any pet stories you'd like to share? I'd love to read all about it in the comments.

Join me next Friday when our Friday Faves theme will be mystical, magical, magnificent music! Until then, have a great weekend and take care out there!

As someone who has lost an old friend this week, in the shape of my beloved dog (who was 14 years old and had just reached the end of the road) I agree that they can bring out the best in us. I can also identify with the "tears of sadness and remembrance".

Thanks for this Lesa
