Friday Faves - Holly Holy Moly Dreams

Original Artwork by Lee Lane
April Fourth is a very special date for me because, it would seem, the very doors, windows and even the walls of Heaven had opened up to me to reveal the answer to a very long-standing dilemma/question that I had been pondering over for a long time. The answer came on the heels of four strange dreams (aren't most dreams strange?) and I can't even figure out why I would finally have the answer that I arrived at based upon the symbols in the dreams. Yet there it was as clear as glass! I was no longer seeing through a glass darkly.

Music Monday, on my Cherish blog, I'll be highlighting the music of -- you guessed it -- Neil Diamond! Then What I Believe Wednesday and Friday Faves, with a Sports theme, will return right here at No Stranger Here!

I'll leave you with this question to ponder: What IS the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

Until then next time, have a great weekend everyone and take care out there!

Friday Faves - Beach Time

I love the beach! The scent of the ocean. The breeze. The pounding surf! Come with me to the beach and we'll make a day of it getting wet and laughing as we dry out in the sun.

A little summer song fun by the Drifters - Under the Boardwalk:

Octopus Garden with Lobster Seahorse Seashell Two Fish Brooch Pin

http://www.etsy.com/listing/74886911/octopus-garden-with-lobster-seahorse

I made this sea collection pin using the antique gold-toned stamped metal findings of an octopus, two fish, a seahorse and a lobster. I also glued on a scattering of pearls and one faux red gem. I highlighted certain parts of this brooch with a brighter gold-toned paint to give it a bit of shine and to add a little interest to the piece.

I collected the sea-oriented findings for this brooch several years ago with the thought of making something for myself as a sort of wearable scrapbook, due to the fact that I used to work for a commercial fisherman when I was a teen. It also makes me think of that old Beatles hit song: Octopus's Garden.

It's a great summertime brooch or could be used with a Steampunk or similar costume or something to wear when going out to dinner at a seafood restaurant, seafood festival or other similarly themed party or event.

It measures (approximately) a little over 2.5 inches wide and just under 2 inches from the top to the bottom of the brooch. Its Metric measurement is (approximately) 6 cm x 5 cm.

Victorian-Style Black Faceted Glass Beaded Choker

This Jet Black Glass Beaded Victorian Vampire Steampunk Choker would be great for accessorizing a Steampunk, Saloon Girl, Flamenco, Belly Dance, Vampire or Titanic costume. It would also go well with any dress or top you might wear for going out to the clubs.

It fits a neck up to 12 and a half inches around (inside measure). It could be made to go further because it has an almost 3 and a half inch chain that dangles down the back.

I made this necklace from antique gold toned wire and chain with faceted black glass beads, so it catches the light nicely.

I'm asking $15.00 USD due to the cost of materials and the time involved in making the piece.

Let me know what you think! I'm open to suggestions and ideas.
