Friday Faves 48 - Mother's Day

What an interesting time to have a Mother's Day Friday Faves. I say this because of the recent debacle on the part of Hilary Rosen in her statement that Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life.

Now, I'm sure by now that Ms. Rosen would prefer that she had never tread on the hallowed and sacred ground of motherhood, so I don't want to be mean. However, I must say this: that there is no harder work, no more sacred calling than that of being a mother (or a father for that matter) and I will never understand how anyone could ever make such a presumption about someone who has raised children.

Whether you like the Romneys or not, to say something like that is simply a matter of not thinking or, as is sometimes the case, just another way to tear down those who choose the path of parenthood.

So, with that, my Tuppence, being said I will now step down off of my soapbox and gladly give Ms. Rosen a hug. (((( Hilary )))) She probably could use one about now. ;-)

Here's a song to wend us on our way by Lynyrd Skynyrd called Simple Man. It's definitely the advice I would give my own son - if I had one. It's the advice my father often repeated to me as I was growing up.
