Friday Faves 48 - Mother's Day

What an interesting time to have a Mother's Day Friday Faves. I say this because of the recent debacle on the part of Hilary Rosen in her statement that Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life.

Now, I'm sure by now that Ms. Rosen would prefer that she had never tread on the hallowed and sacred ground of motherhood, so I don't want to be mean. However, I must say this: that there is no harder work, no more sacred calling than that of being a mother (or a father for that matter) and I will never understand how anyone could ever make such a presumption about someone who has raised children.

Whether you like the Romneys or not, to say something like that is simply a matter of not thinking or, as is sometimes the case, just another way to tear down those who choose the path of parenthood.

So, with that, my Tuppence, being said I will now step down off of my soapbox and gladly give Ms. Rosen a hug. (((( Hilary )))) She probably could use one about now. ;-)

Here's a song to wend us on our way by Lynyrd Skynyrd called Simple Man. It's definitely the advice I would give my own son - if I had one. It's the advice my father often repeated to me as I was growing up.

Thank you, Dad!

And, Mama... I love you. Thank you!

Now, let's go shopping!

Mother's Day Shop Number 1
Shop name: Hastings Studio

I read this card and it took my breath away. Simple yet so profound. No truer words...

Mother's Day Shop Number 2
Shop name: Glory Babies A 2 Z

Ah, yes! And my mother had such a green thumb, too! This item takes me back to her beautiful garden and all of the lovely plants she and my dad planted around our home. What a lovely reminder of such beauty!

Mother's Day Shop Number 3
Shop name: Modern Fine Art House

Speaking of gardens, why not give your mother one that she doesn't even have to lift a finger to tend she only has to decide where to place it and then sit back and enjoy its beauty.

Mother's Day Shop Number 4
Shop name: Doodle Graphics {Modern Typography}

If your mother sung this to you when you were young, as mine did, then this would be a great (and cute) way to return the favor.

Mother's Day Shop Number 5
Shop name: Zoey's Attic (The Pecking Order)

Let's not forget who made our moms possible - Grandma! This is a cute way to let her know how special she is too, especially if you have a little one on the way yourself.

That was a lot of fun! I hope you find just the right gift for your own moms or grandmothers and for you that are moms (and grandmothers) may your day be perfect in every way imaginable! God bless you all, sweet mothers of our lovely, lovely world!

Be sure to drop back by next week when Friday Faves gets Astronomical, baby!

Until then, have a great weekend everyone, and take care out there!
