Friday Faves 51 - The Ocean

In this week's Friday Faves we're going deep sea diving, plunging to the depths of the seeming infinite creativity that is and the Handmade Movement.

I love the ocean. Some of my fondest memories are when I have been by the sea. I spent a few years with my Aunt and Uncle who lived in Neptune Beach, Florida. It was amazing! I loved the scent of the ocean that seemed to permeate just about everything. Oh, those nights sleeping beside open windows drifting off to the sound of the breeze through the palms. It has such a rustling, whispering sound to it. And, of course, I always loved it when I got to play in the sand on the beach and splash in the waves.

Later on, my older brothers sold boiled peanuts on the beach and I would get to tag along with them and in those days I was introduced to surfing. Those were my braver days! It's been a very, very long time since I was on a surf board, but I absolutely adored it when I was around the ages of 6 - 8 years old.

And then, nights when I was all grown up watching the stars fall beside the ocean with my baby. Sigh...

One of my favorite songs about the ocean is by Renaissance. I think their Sounds of the Sea will set the mood quite nicely for our Oceanic Shopping Spree.

Now, let's go Island Hopping! I mean, shopping.

Oceanic Shop Number 1
Shop name: WallStar Graphics

Ah yes, the spiny murex shell! This is one of my favorite types of seashells to collect. So intricate! And this is quite a handsome example. Talk about a statement! Gorgeous!

Oceanic Shop Number 2
Shop Name: DriftWoodWorks

I love the warmth of this next item. You can tell that a lot of work went into bringing this piece to life. A truly functional and attractive addition to any home!

Oceanic Shop Number 3
Shop name: CastawaysHall

This beautiful little item could easily lend a little seaside flair to any room. I love the soothing color, but the artisan can make one in any color you might like to match with your decor. Sweet!

Oceanic Shop Number 4
Shop name: Surfside Sea Glass

Wow! I absolutey adore this piece. I have a weakness for anything with sea glass and then the addition of that silver coral really makes this necklace pop!

Oceanic Shop Number 5
Shop name: Stacy's Art Studio

The colors in this painting are so amazing! I love the blue! And there truly is such a sense of peace in this painting. It reminds me of the marshes of Chicopit Bay and around Ft. George Island in Florida. Gorgeous!

Alas, it's time to pack up our beach supplies and gather our wonderful seaside finds. Remember, let's leave only footprints behind as we finish up our day beside the beautiful ocean. Now, wasn't that a wonderful day? Don't you feel much more relaxed? I know I do!

Next week's Friday Faves we'll be splashing through the puddles as we take a long, wonderful walk in the rain.

Until then, have a great weekend everyone and take care out there!
